Summer of Vibes began in 2025 as a summer program at SHN. In 2026, students used AI and modern software to build healthcare tools, analyze data and carry out research. Their work included meta-analyses, study protocols and software tested against clinical and operational questions. Applications grew from 50 in 2025 to more than 900 in 2026. We are now opening the program to partner institutions so more investigators can work with these students. Participating research groups bring their own projects and supervision, with recruitment, technical support, teaching and mentorship shared across the program.
Start with the work you want to do. Summer of Vibes matches students to your project and connects them with a wider technical and academic community. You provide the questions, experience and supervision; students contribute the skills and time to carry the work forward. With peers and technical mentors to draw on, they can tackle work that would otherwise sit outside the expertise or capacity of your group.

Summer of Vibes handles recruitment and matching, and provides shared teaching, technical support and a student cohort across participating sites.
Research groups gain access to a wider range of skills without each investigator having to organize a separate summer program.
